Why commission me?

I’ve been designing and making bespoke kitchens and furniture since the year 2000 and so have a wealth of experience in bringing your initial idea to reality.

How much does your furniture cost?

Because every project is unique, each one is priced individually. After an initial free visit to your home to discuss your needs, I will determine an estimate. Once the final designs are approved by you, I will send a full written quote. The way I work means you will find my kitchens surprisingly affordable!

What are your payment terms?

I ask for a 20% deposit upon order and, in the case of a large project such as a kitchen, a further 30% halfway through the build. The balance is due on delivery.

Who does the fitting?

I DO! I always take my projects through to the end, thus ensuring the standard of work is to my, and your, satisfaction from beginning to end. After producing a quality kitchen or piece of furniture for you I am not about to hand it over to someone else!

What timber do you use?

I use a wide range of timbers including Oak (English & European), Ash (English, European & American), Maple, American Black Walnut, American Poplar, Beech (English & European), English Walnut, Elm, Utile, Iroko ... The list goes on - it's really down to your taste and preference.

What finishes do you use?

As I mostly work in quality hardwoods, I like to finish them in an oil or wax oil which gives a lovely natural finish to the wood. I can also use a shellac based polish for a glossier finish and, of course, any paint colour you like.

How far will you travel?

Even though my workshop is in North Devon close to the town of Chulmleigh, I have clients all over the country. Distance is not a problem.

What is your lead time?

This all depends on my current work load but delivery times will be discussed at the initial enquiry.

Is your furniture made with environmentally friendly materials?

Yes, all of the timbers and materials I use carry the COD (Chain of Custody) and the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) mark which means they are sourced from environmentally and sustainable sources. In the winter I heat my workshop with wood burner which burns all unusable off-cuts, and the sawdust and wood shavings I create are used as animal bedding.

Do You also provide worktops, plumbing, tiling, electrics, etc.?

I only make and fit the kitchen units and wooden worktops. However, I can supply you with details of trusted plumbers and electricians, plus worktop, sink and tap suppliers.

Can I visit your workshop to view work-in-progress?

Yes, please come and say hello! I love see people and encourage all my clients to come over and see their commission in work.

Do You Have A Showroom?

No, I don't since all my work is made to commission. My clients are only too pleased to show and talk about their past projects so, if you would like to see examples of my work I can arrange a visit to a client’s home. Also as I mentioned, the workshop is always open for you to come and check out whatever is in progress at the time.
